Cottonwood to Jerome

A trip through the Mingus Mountains Narrow scenic roads, 12miles up to 7000feet. I did hang onto my seat and the door handle. John loved it, it reminded him of the roads he drove in norway.

alamo

FRIDAY, 5/6/11,Found a great parking lot to accomodate the RV 2 blocks from the Alamo. Took
pictures, walked through the buildings and gardens (very busy with school children)
and went to the Riverwalk. Very interesting. Eating places all along the small canal which
has sightseeing barges on it. All very colorfull. Stopped for lunch. Drove on past
Lockland Air Force Base where John did his basic training in the airforce.
Arrived at a nice campground in Alsace. Friendly host who spent some time talking
about the town. Weather very nice.

I am trying to post this picture for day 5

visit with the vrijenhoek's in Louisiana

DAY 5, SANDY made us a delicious meal last night. after we went sightseeing
and ended up at the casino. We left a few dollars. Today is damp, cold and rainy.
We decided to go try our luck again. Jack and Sandy came out $74- ahead. John
and I again left a few dollars. But we did play for a time and had fun especially
on the Texas Tea machine. We had a wonderful meal while at the Casino.

We are in Louisiana

Day 4, Hi folks, skipped posting last night (day3) we played cards instead. We stayed at a very rustic campsite in Miss. Askew's Landing. This was off Rt 20 in the western part of Miss. We relaxed and had a restful night. As you can see we had a lakefront site. Today, Sunday, we arrived at Jacks and Sandys about 2pm. Great to see them. We have lots of catching up to do.

Alabama After the Tornado

2nd Campsite is in Gadsden, AL.
It has been an interesting day. We decided that we wanted to go to Scottsboro, AL to see the place where the airlines bring all the lost items. We made it at 4:30pm after traveling through some very devastated areas. The Tornado did a terrible job in TN. We did not realize it also hit AL.
When we got to Scottsboro, the town was closed. No electricity. No gas except for one station which ran on a generator. When we left town we went through the area which was destroyed. What sadness.
Next, we looked for a camping ground. We found a beautiful one in Gadsden, Alabama. Here's a picture of the waterfall on the grounds. Having a great trip. Seeing our beautiful country.
Going to bed. It is after 10pm!
